The New Children’s Museum most recent exhibit, Octavia E. Butler: Seeding Futures, opens to the public on Saturday, March 9!

To celebrate the launch of this groundbreaking exhibit, we are hosting an Octavia E. Butler: Seeding Futures  conversation to discuss the life, legacy, and global influence of Octavia E. Butler on Saturday, March 9 from 2-3 pm. We will explore how Butler’s work shapes our understanding of community and the future.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required to attend.  Please note, the panel will take place at UC San Diego Park & Market, located at 1100 Market St, San Diego, CA 92101 in Downtown East Village

Meet Our Panelists:

  • Ayana Jamieson, PhD (she/her) | Moderator: Advising Curator of the Octavia E. Butler: Seeding Futures exhibit and founder of the Octavia E. Butler Legacy Network.
  • American Artist (they/them) | Panelist: Contemporary artist who makes thought experiments that mine the history of technology, race, and knowledge production, beginning with their legal name change in 2013.    
  • Lynell George (she/her) | Panelist: Journalist, writer, and author of A Handful of Earth, A Handful of Sky: The World of Octavia Butler.
